CIVITA BAGNOREGIO | THE DYING TOWN

Italy’s ‘dying town’, this unbelievable place is desparately trying to remove itself from the edge of extinction, threatened by destruction from its own nature. A medieval hamlet perched on a plateau of volcanic rock surrounded by steep and surreal ravines in Italy’s Lazio region and inhabited by only 11 people, now has turned its vulnerability to its advantage as it has become a great and unique attraction for people from all over the world - come and visit whilst you can. Civita, this tiny settlement about 70 miles north of Rome, founded by the Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago, is now a "must see" for every traveler, hiker, dreamer and life enthusiast, a place that seems to have been invented by the fervent mind of a novelist as an extreme act of love, or dreamt by any one of us like a hidden desire or ancestral memory... Is that the place where we will reflect on our idea of destiny?
